Certificate of Commercial Practice (CoCP) Renewal

Please read prior to submitting your company’s renewal

All CoCPs expire December 31, 2026, there is no grace period!

Renewal Requirements

All companies must complete the renewal process and pay the applicable renewal fee to maintain an active Certificate of Commercial Practice (CoCP). Failure to complete the renewal process before the expiration date will result in your CoCP lapsing. A company may not offer to or practice engineering and/or land surveying services in North Dakota without a valid CoCP.

If your company wishes to not renew their CoCP, you may place your CoCP into an inactive status by completing our inactive status request form.

Secretary of State Requirements

Prior to renewing your company’s CoCP your company must have a Certificate of Authority (COA) that is in an “Active” and “Good Standing” with the North Dakota Secretary of State. This is an auditable requirement. Companies that are not in a good standing will not be eligible to renew and may be subject to disciplinary action.
