All licensees must complete the renewal process and pay the applicable renewal fee to maintain an active license. Failure to complete the renewal process before the expiration date will result in the license lapsing. A person may not offer to practice or practice professional engineering and/or land surveying in North Dakota while their license is lapsed.
If you do not wish to renew your license, you may place your license into inactive status by completing our inactive status request form.
All licensed individuals are required to meet North Dakota’s Continuing Professional Competency (CPC) requirements prior to renewing their license. These requirements are outlined in North Dakota Administrative Code (NDAC) 28-04-01.
Unless requested by the Board, individuals do not need to submit their continuing education documentation with their renewal. As part of the renewal process, individuals will attest that they have met the applicable CPC requirements.
Individuals must retain all CPC documentation in accordance with NDAC 28-04-01-04. The Board will randomly select renewals for audit of CPC compliance.
If your license has been lapsed for more than one year, or has been in an inactive status for more than four years, you are not eligible for reinstatement through the standard renewal process. If you are not eligible to renew your registration through the renewal process, you must complete the Board’s application process.
