Statutes & Rules

North Dakota Century Code

The requirements for becoming licensed in North Dakota are contained in a collection of North Dakota’s statutes called the North Dakota Century Code (NDCC). Statutes can only be created by North Dakota’s Legislature. The different sections of the NDCC are separated by chapters and a numbering system. The chapter of the NDCC assigned to Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors is 43-19.1. An online version of NDCC chapter 43-19.1 is located on the North Dakota government web site.

North Dakota Administrative Code

Statutes tend to be broad in nature and do not contain a great deal of specific information.  To further define the requirements contained in statutes, government agencies can create administrative rules.  These are contained in the North Dakota Administrative Code (NDAC),  are enforceable and registrants are required to comply with the requirements in the NDAC.  The chapter of the NDAC assigned to Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors is Title 28.  An online version of NDAC Title 28 is located on the North Dakota government web site.
